Description
A deep red saree woven with gold zari motifs across the body and a broad gold zari border with a fine pink edge. The weave follows the Banarasi style, with close-set buttas and a heavy border that keeps its shape when draped.
Red is the colour of Teej and of Nepali weddings, and this is a saree for those days: Teej, weddings, bratabandha and the big Dashain visits.
About 5.5 m long, with an unstitched blouse piece of about 0.8 m.
Materials and care
What it is made of
85% Silk, 15% Metallic zari thread
Care
Dry clean only. Store folded in a cotton or muslin cloth, away from damp, and refold it now and then so the zari does not crease along the same lines.
Sizing
Free size. The blouse piece comes unstitched, so a tailor can make the blouse to your own measurements.
